In 1830, when he was just 15, Don Facundo Bacardi Masso, left Spain to join his brothers in Cuba. Rum was the most popular drink on the island, even though it’s taste was crude and rough. Don Facundo saw an amazing opportunity. He dedicated years of his life to crafting and refining the rum and despite many setbacks, his perseverance paid off. BACARDI and the cocktails it inspired became hugely popular all over the world. Today it is still a family owned business, proud to continue what the great man started.
